April Reading
Here’s the list of what I will be reading in April! First off, with it being Easter this month, I figured I would kick off the month reading a book about Christ. I hope everyone has a happy and fun Easter!
Closer to Christ by Emily Belle Freeman- This book is designed to strengthen us when we have trials and to help find joy in everyday life. So far, what I have read has been insightful because it ties the stories into the scripture it is referring to. This book is kind of like a self-help book I’d say. There is a 21 Day challenge (you could say) to bring you closer to Christ and learn about his life. I will keep you updated on how this goes for me and whether I felt like the book was worth reading.
Daring Greatly by Brené Brown- This is another self-help book that is basically what the title is… daring greatly. I chose to read this one because I realize I need to be more brave in my life when uncertainty happens. I’m hoping there are real life examples on how to combat fear and help with controlling emotions. Brené Brown has several other books such as The Gifts of Imperfection which was also great at helping with emotions so I have high hopes that this one will help calm my fears a little bit more than currently.
the light we lost by Jill Santopolo- I don’t know why exactly, but I have a feeling this book is going to be sad. It’s about a relationship between Lucy and Gabe where they see if they can find the meaning of their life. I have no idea what else to expect from this story, so when I follow up I’ll let you know if it’s worth reading at the end of April.
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight- This is a memoir of the Nike creator. I probably won’t rate this book because it is a memoir, but if it’s interesting I will continue to read it. It’s supposed to talk about how he broke off from a big corporation in hopes to create something new and different. Sounds promising that it will be interesting.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir- So I didn’t get to this in time before the movie came out so I kind of watched it before I read/listen to the story. I know what is going to happen, however, when I started listening to the audiobook, I felt like I might like it more than the movie so we shall see! The writing seems to be very well-written for the content that it is. Basically it’s a space movie. Let me know if you want more details on this book, I don’t want to spoil anything.
The Secrets of Happy Families by Bruce Feiler- Another self-improvement book. I should just do a post about the top 10 self-improvement books by now. I seem to keep reading this genre lately, but I’m going to listen to this one this month. Let me know if you do too! I’m curious to know what other people’s thoughts are on this topic.
Overall, I’m excited for this month’s line up! Hopefully I will get to all of these books. At the end of the month, I will keep you updated on what I actually ended up reading and finishing for the month of April. Happy Reading! As always, let me know in the comments if you end up reading any of these or if you are interested in them!
