September Reading

Hello! Thanks for stopping by! Here’s my hopes and dreams of what I want to read in September!

  1. The Island of Last Things by Emma Sloley- This book involves a zookeeper who runs the last zoo in the world. Camille, the main character, meets Sailor who changes Camille’s outlook on life with the animals. The story takes place on Alcatraz Island and the two characters decide to try to move an animal off the island into freedom. Overall, I think the main point of this story is to redefine freedom and the vision they have for the future. I’m really excited to see if I like this story as much as the summary intrigues me. Have you heard of this book before? What did you like or not like about it? Do you think this is something you would enjoy reading too?

  2. The Bodyguard’s Fall by Cindy Steel- This series is just coming out this fall! I have only heard good things about this author and so I don’t think this book will disappoint! Let’s hope not! This is one of the books from the Falling for Autumn series (there are 8 in total). So just imagine a cozy fall situation. In this book, there is humor and is definitely a rom com. The main character is trying to stay away from a stalker and ends up falling for her bodyguard. Kind of an interesting plot!

  3. Autumn on My Mind by Gracie Ruth Mitchell- This is another book from that same series. The cool thing about this series though is each book is written by a different author, but they all have overlapping characters and settings, etc. I’m interested to see how the two exes decide to resolve things when they realize that their own parents are dating. Another odd scenario that could make for a cute story.

  4. Resisting the Fall by Jess Heileman- I read Plotting Summer by this author and really enjoyed it! She seems to really know how to write a clean romance book! This one is also in the Falling for Autumn series and is about a girl who tries to resist the fall of her highschool sweetheart who she is now getting a divorce with. I’m hoping this story will be interesting and not too serious, but we’ll see if Heileman wrote another great story!

  5. Change Anything by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, David Maxfield, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler- I have had this book for a while and it’s been sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. Hopefully, I will get to it this month and will discover what the new science of personal success is. So basically the book is about how to change anything when you are stuck in your life or career and want/need a change. It says there are six sources of influence that shape our daily choices. I think this book could potentially be really helpful in creating a life that we want to live. Let’s see if anything changes in my own life after reading this book. What is an area in your life that you would like to change?

  6. A Wish in the Dark by Christina Soontornvat- Okay wait… so I never knew that this book was inspired by Les Misérables. Kind of cool! Right? This book is set in Chattana where all the light is created by the Governor. The main character, Pong, was born in a prison and can’t wait to see the day when he can see the lights. So Pong decides to escape prison just to find that life outside is just as unfair. I’m curious to see what connections I could make to Les Misérables while reading this book. Maybe they kind of have the same message. Anyways, I am excited to see how this story unfolds!

  7. The Temporary Roomie by Sarah Adams- Okay I said I was done with Sarah Adam’s books, however, here’s another one. I had the audiobook and need a new audiobook to listen to so this one is it for this month. I’m a little skeptical that I might not like this one very much. We’ll see though!

  8. Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults by Robin Wall Kimmerer- This book just looked interesting to me because it tells how listening to languages of other beings allows us to see the generosity of the earth as well as how to give our own gifts in return. This book just seems sweet!

Let me know if you read any of these books or if you’re interested in the Falling for Autumn series! There are 5 more stories that I haven’t listed on here yet! We’ll see how many of them I get through this fall! Do you have any books you are hoping to read this fall? Let me know in the comments if you’re reading any Fall books! I need some suggestions on what to read next month! :)

As always, thanks for reading and commenting!
