August Reading

Cheers to a new month!! I’m a little slow at getting this posted this time because I have been bogged down in work the last few weeks. However, I did try to get this completed as soon as possible! Here is the August line up!

  1. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey- I was trying to read this book last month, but it’s so long I decided to move it into this month. I also didn’t realize this book was a part of a series so we’ll see if I’m interested enough to want to read the others! Basically, the run down on this book is that the main character is running away from the beings who look human, but kill anyone they see. Cassie thinks staying alone means she will stay alive, however, then she meets Evan who is her hope to save her and her brother. We’ll see how this actually plays out because this is all I know about this book.

  2. Matched by Ally Condie- These books have been on my TBR list for quite some time now. I’m hoping to get through the whole series this month so bare with me if you’re not as interested in these books. Haha This book is dystopian and has some romance to it as well. Cassia lives in a society where the leaders get to choose who you love, where you work, and when you die. Sounds pretty interesting, right? It sounds like there is some competition in this book so I’m excited to read it. I have only heard good things about this book.

  3. Crossed by Ally Condie- This is the second book in the Matched series and in this one society chooses everything such as the books you read or down to the person you love. Cassia in this one has to adjust to the rules changing and have to sacrifice a lot to find Ky. Sounds like this one portrays a lot about rebellion and what that means for society.

  4. Reached by Ally Condie- This is the last book in the Matched Series. In this one Cassia and Ky have to find each other again and it sounds like there are a lot of changes going on in this book. I’m not sure anything else about this series, but I usually like dystopian novels so this should be a fun read.

  5. The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella- I think I recently heard that Sophie Kinsella past away, but I don’t remember what from. Anyways, this is one of her newer books so I’m excited to see how different the story is from Confessions of a Shopaholic. This book is also on sale right now for the kindle so if you want to jump in and read a book that we both know nothing about jump on it! Anyways, after reading about this book it sounds like Sasha is just completely burned out which is a coincidence because so is Finn who Sasha meets at a resort. We’ll see if it’s any good or if it’s just drama.

  6. Only Love Today by Rachel Macy Stafford- I got this book at a thriftstore so that could be good or bad as to what this is about. Basically, she talks about ways to live undistracted and is daily devotionals even though it is not dated.

  7. Gracie’s Guide to Dating by Rebecca Jo Jackson- I’ve read all her other books so figured I would need to read this one too at some point! I think this book is basically about what the title says. Haha I think I may have mentioned this book before so I won’t explain too much of it, but basically Gracie is a dance teacher and she meets Nathan because she is in his niece’s dance class.

Overall, I hope you’ve found something interesting this month. Check back for more in depth reviews on a couple of books from this list in the upcoming month! What about these books interests you? Leave a comment below and I’ll respond when I can! Thanks!
